Log -2: Grown Up
The raw edges of the pavement
Weeds cluster, force
Outside of ourselves
Emerging to face the sun
Pools of day-old rainwater
Are a clearer mirror than glass
Refracted visions
Of who I used to be
Before I had to grow up into a kid again
Shrink myself tall
Vulnerable, bald
Dirt mounds are mountains
To tiny creatures
My presence is the peak
I wish to summit
But an untied shoelace takes me nowhere
On a summer afternoon
Straight under a tree
Lacework shadows veil me
The ground has never felt so still
Where to next?
